One of the most expensive films shot in 2009 is “Victory” .Baweja acted in the roll of Vijay Shekhawat. Other actors who appear are Amrita Rao, Anupam Kher, Gulshan Grover, Dalip Tahil. Ajitpal Mangat directed it. The story is about the ambitious of Vijay Shekhawat, who is coming from a small village in Rajastan. He wanted to become a cricketer. Event hough he performed well, I was not impressed. Ajitpal failed in his delivery. When compared with other films like ‘Lagaan’ or ‘Iqbal’, which center on the same concept of cricket, “Victory” is not as good. With Pyar-Vyar, Amrita Rao had enhanced the commercial factor. Movie Review – “Life Partner” A glimpse into a more progressive Indian Culture
September 3, 2009 — The Little BThe film ‘Life Partner’ is all about marriage – the holy union of two souls until now of a male bonding a female though the law has recently allowed lesbians and homosexuals to be life partners. Again, the marriage can be an arranged one, or one borne out of love. Let’s now analyze the movie. It is a story about three friends – Karan played by Fardeen Khan who considers ‘Love marriage as the perfect bet’, Bhavesh played by Tusshar Kapoor who believes in arranged marriage and is opposed to dating. The third one is Jeet played by Govinda, who believes in ‘No marriage’. So, he is qualified to play a divorce lawyer. Incidentally, the lives of Karan and Bhavesh turn upside down when they marry their respective partners. Karan is married with Sanjana played by Genelia D’souza Bhavesh with Prachi played by Prachi Desai. The movie depicts how they learn their lessons by re-affirming their belief in the institution of marriage. Thus, the movie is full of romance and fun. The producers – Abbasa and Mastan – are famous for their direction, yet they are new in the field of production. But, they have proved their credentials as producers too. Similarly, Rumi Jaffery, a famous writer, has turned director for this movie. He has proved to be an equally brilliant director. Sameer Arya’s cinematography of the locales of Cape Town is enchanting. Dialogues by Niranjan Iyengar are enjoyable and provide a lot of fun. The choice of actors is excellent. Fardeen Khan has done much better than in the past. Tusshar plays his part well and does full justice to it. Govinda once again succeeds in evoking laughter. Anupam Kher is his usual, especially in evoking laughter. Vikram Gokhale and Darshan Jariwala have done full justice to their assigned roles. Among the female cast, Genelia looks cute but needs to improve her dialogue delivery. Prachi Desai’s performance is good. Amrita Rao plays a bar girl but in a guest appearance. She isn’t as cute in the past, presumably due to her new makeover in this movie. In any case, the movie is worth a watch, especially for those who are single and are planning to marry.
